Christian DuBrul is now almost done Barber School through the O’Brien’s Aveda Institute. He had shown interest in several other fields including, police work, media, film, and entertainment industries during his three years in Big Picture. His internships included working with Probation and Parole officers, and at Mount Mansfield Media. “I just got a feeling one day,” he said when asked about the change to hairstyling. He went on the explain, “the thing that I love is that it is almost 100% self dependent and you can go almost anywhere to do it. It is almost instant gratification; in 20 minutes you can see your own living piece of art walking down the street.” Christian is taking the local barbering scene by storm! He has taken the self promotion and marketing skills he borrowed from WWE and honed while at Big Picture to another level with his “mug shot”-like photos of friends sporting his fresh cuts all over Facebook. Christian was also part of the styling team for the 8th Annual ONE Fashion Event at Higher Ground. His voice is currently featured in the radio ads for Bugatti Barbers.

When we sat down to ask Christian how Big Picture helped prepare him for real life he had this to say. “Big Picture forces kids to look ahead into the future to see where decisions will take them and seriously consider any possible consequences.” Christian said that making learning plans and having the background knowledge of plotting out steps, versus relying on the planning of others, really set him up for a solid understanding of “the magnitude of things you need to make it work.” He also credits his many internships and mentors for the hours upon hours of hands on work in real world businesses that taught him about personal responsibility. Having a taste of this as a highschooler really paid off. Indeed! If you need a fresh cut you can find Christian at O’Brien’s Aveda Institute on Shelburne Road!
